NDTV Lumière launches world cinema titles on DVDs

Mumbai: NDTV Lumière, along with Excel Home Videos, has launched 10 world cinema DVD titles at a price of Rs 499 per DVD. Present on the occasion of the launch were director Shekhar Kapur along with NDTV Lumière directors Sunil Doshi and Manmohan Shetty.

At the outset, movie buffs will have access to 10 titles on DVD, which include highly acclaimed and award winning movies like The Orphanage, Climates, Under The Bombs, Crossing The Bridge, Head On, Goodbye, Children, The Lovers, Breath, Yella, and Half Moon.  These movies will showcase the works of directors like Fatih Akin, Louis Malle, Kim Ki-Duk, Philippe Aractingi, Christian Petzold, Bahman Ghobadi, Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Juan Antonio Bayona.

Doshi said, "The release of NDTV Lumiere’s DVD titles is another milestone that Lumière has achieved. We always felt that if the best of international books and the best of international music can find shelf space in the stores, there is always a possibility and hope for World Cinema to do the same. With Lumiere’s association with Excel we have really achieved that possibility as well."

Excel Home Videos will distribute these movies through its extensive reach of over 15,000 retail/rental outlets and a distribution network spread across 91 cities in India. These movies will also be made available at major online and rental outlets in the country. Excel has strengthened its position as the market leader in the international movie category as a result of the tie up.
