Percept Picture Company COO Mahesh Ramanathan quits

Percept Picture Company’s chief operating officer (COO) Mahesh Ramanathan has resigned from his post, thus making way for Rediffusion DYR president Preet Bedi, who has recently been designated as the chief executive officer.

Confirming the same to Businessofcinema.com, Ramanathan says, “I put in my papers in November last year and will be serving my notice period till March.”

While he was at Percept, Ramanathan handled film and television content as well as talent and ad films. As COO, Ramanathan was also responsible for strategy and planning at PPC.

An MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, Ramanathan has worked for brands like Baygon, Rasna, AirTel and Sampoerna International Pvt Ltd in various capacities. When queried as to where his next move would be, he was noncommittal.

Bedi, on the other hand, has moved to PPC from Rediffusion DYR, which he led as president for three and a half years. Under his stewardship, Rediffusion grew by over 60 per cent. Prior to joining Rediffusion, Bedi spent over 15 years at Lintas (now Lowe) initially growing its Delhi and Kolkata businesses and later heading the Mumbai and Delhi offices as their director.

In the early years of his career, Bedi was also a familiar face on television in India, being one of a handful of English news anchors on Doordarshan for several years.

On his new venture in PPC, Bedi says, “I am excited to join PPC, which has been churning out such interesting work in the area of films and entertainment and has emerged as a complete 360 degree motion picture company in India.”
