Percept signs Bachchan for Johnny Walker

MUMBAI: Percept Picture Company’s (PPC) next big film project titled Johnny Walker will have Amitabh Bachchan as the lead. What’s more, the logistics of a co-production between PPC and Bachchan’s AB Corp for the film are also being worked out.

The film will be directed by Shoojit Sircar and is based on a script, which has been penned keeping Bachchan in mind. The script of Johnny Walker has been created and written by the in house team at PPC and Rang De Basanti writer Renzil D’Silva has given the finishing touches.

Percept Holdings joint managing director Shailendra Singh says, “For us at Percept Picture Company, Johnny Walker is going to be the pride of Indian cinema. It has the required emotion and drama where language will not be a barrier. We truly believe that Johnny Walker is India’s first cinema offering to the global entertainment consumer. We at PPC will be putting in all our resources to make this initiative a success.”

Bachchan adds, “I am very excited to be a part of the film – Johnny Walker – and I am looking forward to working with Percept Picture Company. I feel that Johnny Walker has the potential to cut across global audiences. The final logistics are being worked on for the production of this film. AB Corp is also looking at the possibility of doing a joint venture with PPC for this film.”

PPC chief operating officer Mahesh Ramanathan says, “PPC is very excited to have Mr. Bachchan to play the lead and also the fact that AB Corp and Percept Picture Company could be partners on this film just shows the true potential of the film. As always PPC promises to surprise you with more news.”

“Johnny Walker is a love story that begins where most other love stories end. It is a film about love, regret and hope. Most of all it is a film about second chances,” adds Sircar.
