Mumbai police along with AA Khan & Associates raided three locations in Andheri, and seized over 10,000 pirated DVDs and CDs on 6 December, 2009. The raid uncovered close to 400 pirated discs of Paa which released on Friday, 5 December 2009 , 1000 pirated discs of De Dana Dan  and 2000 plus discs of the movie 2012.Copies of other recently released movies like Wanted were also found.

The raids were a joint operation by a 5 member team from the Mumbai police, headed by inspector Tangad Palli and 4 member team from AA Khan & Associates, headed by former Sr. inspector Dhanavade.

Two people have been arrested in the raid. The accused, Sajid and Padar were booked under sections 51, 52(A), 63, 68(A) of Copyright Act along with sections 292A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Says Khan, “Piracy is a serious offence and one which is rampant within major parts of the city. We along with Mumbai Police are dedicated to the cause of arresting the increase of such activities. However, the job of the police is nullified since the common man goes and purchases movies from such pirates. People need to remember that besides denying the creators of the content their fair share, the proceeds from such sales fund several illegal activities including terrorism in India and abroad.”
