Pix acquires exclusive television rights for The Hurt Locker

MUMBAI: PIX has acquired exclusive television rights to air The Hurt Locker.

The critically acclaimed film is all set to air exclusively on PIX on Saturday, 30 October, 2010.

The Hurt Locker is the second Oscar mammoth acquired by PIX after Slumdog Millionaire in 2009.The film was nominated for 9 categories out of which it won 6 Academy Awards making Kathryn Bigelow the first woman to win an academy award for Direction. The Hurt Locker overtook Avatar for this coveted recognition making it the biggest film of 2009!

The screenplay was written by Mark Boal. The documentary like film with the portrayal of war, stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty as leads and has been shot in Jordan within miles of the Iraqi border. The film premiered at the coveted Venice Film Festival in Italy after which it was screened at the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival.
