Prateik Babbar finally bows out of Milan Talkies

Prateik Babbar

MUMBAI: Will he, won’t he? Finally Prateik is out of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies, leaving the director in a peculiar state of aimlessness in spite of a successful Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster and a deal to quickly do a sequel, under his belt.

Apparently Dhulia had decided to do Milan Talkies next. Prateik’s withdrawal puts a question-mark on the project.

Says a source: "Tigmanshu Dhulia has three projects on the anvil, one of them being the sequel to Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster. But he has not cracked a script idea for the sequel. The other project Jai  Ramjiki is stuck for a crucial bit of casting. Milan Talkies is the film that Dhulia wanted to do next. It is ironical that when Tigmanshu has finally found success he’s stuck for the want of a leading man."

With Prateik’s withdrawal from the project Tigmanshu needs to find a leading man fast. Apparently Prateik is now taking his ‘common-vulnerable-child-man’ image to the next level by playing confident conventional heroes in his forthcoming films.

Says a source, "Prateik has done enough of the ‘child-man’ roles. He has now  built his muscles and is keen on pursuing the more conventional path." This leaves Tigmanshu Dhulia in a kind of lurch.

Says Dhulia,"The character in Milan Talkies requires a certain body language that Prateik has. I now have the choice of doing Milan Talkies or Jai Ramjiki if I find the right actor. The script for Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster is not ready."
