Prime Focus appoints Daniel Rosen as international chief technology officer

MUMBAI: Prime Focus has named veteran technologist Daniel Rosen its international chief technology officer.

Based in Hollywood and reporting to Prime Focus Global CEO Namit Malhotra, Rosen will oversee technical operations for all Prime Focus North American locations, and together with his counterparts in the UK and India, will further integrate the company’s studios around the world.

A recognized industry expert in digital imaging, Rosen has led engineering efforts at Warner Bros., DreamWorks SKG, Dalsa Digital Cinema, Cinesite and other top organizations over the course of his 30+-year career. He joins Prime Focus most recently from Dalsa, where he was head of production technologies, overseeing software and hardware engineering for the Origin and Evolution 4K cinema cameras. Prior to Dalsa he was a vice president of technology for Warner Bros. Technical Operations, overseeing digital systems for feature film production, post, and restoration.

As chief technology officer at UK-based Cinesite, Rosen re-architected a complete hardware infrastructure for the company’s London and Hollywood locations and developed a software plan to integrate 3D, 3D, scanning and recording and restoration services. Prior to that, as chief engineer at DreamWorks SKG, Rosen created and managed the systems engineering and software departments. He began his career in the aerospace industry, spending 18 years at TRW Defense and Space Systems where he built expertise in imagery and was appointed to several US DoD and other governmental committees to establish imagery standards and formats.
