Mumbai: PVR will release Persepolis; the 2008 Oscar nominated animation film on 20 June in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore.
Persepolis is a touching story of a young Iranian girl coming of age and struggling to find her place in the ever-evolving society. The movie also won the Jury Prize at the Festival de Cannes with an additional 15 awards and 21 nominations at various other international festivals.
The simplicity of the black and white bold images are taken to another level by the collaboration of debut directors, Satrapi and underground artist Vincent Paronnaud, who have brought to life a new impression of the tale. The charm of the film lies in the ‘traditional’ use of animation, ensuring the experiences of Marjan’s life are not displaced by complex.
