Rajat Kapoor’s Mithya completes 50 days run at box office

MUMBAI: Rajat Kapoor’s Mithya has completed its 50 day run at the theatres last week.

Kapoor said, "For a script that had to go around looking for money for about nine years, a script that everyone thought was too dark- for Mithya then, to do a respectable 50 days is really heartwarming for me. It is a sign of the changing times and I would like to raise a toast to our audience. They have been told too often in the past that we make this rubbish for you because you like this rubbish. The audience now has a chance to sit up and reject the rubbish. And I would like to thank everyone who liked the film or supported the film- Thank you."

A comic thriller based on the underworld and directed by Kapoor, Mithya’s star cast includes Ranvir Shorey, Naseerudin Shah, Vinay Pathak, Neha Dhupia and Saurabh Shukla. Rajat has earlier directed Mixed Doubles and Raghu Romeo and the last venture that Rajat, Ranvir and Vinay collaborated on was Bheja Fry.

The worldwide rights of the film are with Tangerine Digital Entertainment. "We are thrilled that Mithya has done well, both at the box office as well as critically and would like to thank all our partners who have helped make our first endeavor a success. Our effort going forward is to build on this momentum and present more innovative and entertaining content," said Tangerine Digital Entertainment managing director Puneet Johar.

Planman Motion Pictures CEO Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee added, "Mithya’s completion of 50 days is reassuring. We were always confident about the film and hence made all the efforts to reach out as wide as it was possible with it. Am really delighted however that audiences and critics alike have all appreciated the film. It reiterates our belief that good content works."
