Ravi Kishan turns movie jockey on Filmy

MUMBAI: Sahara’s movie channel Filmy, which has ventured into the telecast of Bhojpuri films, has roped in Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishan as a movie jockey.


Kishan will present his hit Bhojpuri film Ganga, to be premiered on Filmy on 29 April 2007 at 8 pm. Says Kishan, who featured with Amitabh Bachchan in the film, “One of the most memorable experience was during the music release of the movie Ganga, when Mr Bachchan called me a ‘mahanayak’ (superhero). Coming from a legend like him, it was the proudest moments of my life.”


Says Kishan about his new role as a jockey, “The role offered was a bit different compared to the regular roles I do, hence it was a challenge and I have enjoyed myself thoroughly doing the show.”   Kishan will also share trivia, anecdotes and other details of the making of Ganga.


Kishan has also been invited by the channel to be the celeb guest on the pot seat of its satirical show Kaun Banega Champu, a spoof of Star Plus’ show Kaun Banega Crorepati.


Filmy marketing and content head Shailesh Kapoor said, “The Bhojpuri industry is growing bigger by the day and Ravi Kishan is the superstar of Bhojpuri Cinema. We have invited him on the channel to present the superhit movie Ganga and to provide our audience a taste of Bhojpuri cinema. Our entry into Bhojpuri cinema is line with our efforts to provide our viewers the best in movie entertainment, across genres.” 


Ganga is about Thakur Vljay Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) and Savitri (Hema Malinl) who live in a village along with their son Ranjit (Ajay Sharma) and a servant Bajrangi (Manoj Tiwari). In the same village, lives Shankar (Ravi Kishan). One day, Shankar saves Ganga (Naghma) from a thug and then falls in love with her. On the other hand, Thakur is upset due to his son Ranjit’s waywardness. Thakur wishes his son to get married to Ganga. But due to a conflict during the marriage, Ganga leaves him.
