MUMBAI: IDream Production president – international sales Rohit Sharma has joined Fox Star Studios as international head – sales and distribution.
Sharma will report to Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh.
IDream Production is a film production and distribution company wherein Sharma was earlier heading the sales and marketing functions. Prior to IDream, Sharma was with Modi Disney as head of national distribution.
Confirming the development to Businessofcinema.com, Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh says, "Rohit will be joining the company from 26 August and will look after international sales and distribution. He will be working closely with our international arms – Fox Searchlight and 20th Century Fox."
At Fox Star Studios, which is the Indian movie arm of Twentieth Century Fox, the India distribution and marketing function is handled by Vivek Krishnani. Additionally, as was first reported by Businessofcinema.com, Fox Star Studios’ Sunil Punjabi, who was in charge of strategy for production and home entertainment, put in his papers in June this year.
Fox Star Studios will be releasing Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan worldwide in February next year. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Apart from this, the studio also has a two film deal with producer – director Vipul Shah. Additionally, the studio has also tapped Ghajini director AR Murgadoss to direct two Tamil films.
