MUMBAI: Producer-director Romesh Sharma is poised to launch his next film, featuring close friend Amitabh Bachchan and his son, Karan Sharma in lead roles.
The film will be directed by Sharma and will be launched by August or September 2007.
Sharma had launched his son with the Big B, with Dil Jo Bhi Kahey in 2005, but the film failed to create ripples at the box-office. “The final draft of the script is in progress. I cannot think about a film without Mr Bachchan. My son will also feature in the film,” he says.
Sharma and Jaya Bachchan studied at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune together, and has been a close friend of the family ever since.
He first produced Suhaag in 1979. The film, directed by Manmohan Desai, starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Rekha and Parveen Babi. Then he launched Shiva in the 80s, starring Bachchan. However, the project was eventually shelved. In 1991, Sharma produced Hum, featuring Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Shilpa Shirodkar and Deepa Sahi.
