He admits singing is not his forte. "But I’m happy with my Sachin song. Some of his fans loved it. Some didn’t. I’m doing whatever little I know to the best of my abilities. Maybe when I do another song next I will be able to please the majority."
MUMBAI: Every anthem is not a Kolaveri di. Dhanush has realized this the hard way. His Kolaveri follow-up ‘soup song’ honouring Sachin Tendulkar has not gone down too well with the superstar-batsman’s fans.
The ‘hits’ on the net have taken on an unexpected turn with scores of Sachin’s fanatics accusing the track of being unworthy of the cricketer’s stature.
On Friday morning the song was pulled of Youtube because of the severe backlash. It was only when Dhanush intervened personally that the number was restored.
Admits the somewhat baffled actor-turned-singer, "Some have liked the track, others have not. That’s life. It’s true we had to intervene. Somone removed the link to our song from Youtube. We spoke to Youtube and they restored it."
What’s worrisome for Dhanush is that the mixed reactions to the Sachin song coincide with the release of his next Tamil-Hindi mega-film 3 which features the chartbuster Kolaveri di track.
Significantly the film’s release has been pushed forward from the beginning to the end of March.
Sources from Chennai say this is being done to "create a time gap between the Tendulkar song and the film 3, so that nothing comes in the way of the Kolaveri rage."
Dhanush however dismisses the possibility of the Sachin song making an impact on his Kolaveri film. "True, I’ve had a mixed response to the song. But isn’t that typical of anything one does? Even Kolaveri di has its share of haters."
