Sai Paranjpye to direct Naval after 2 decades

MUMBAI: Prolific filmmaker and 2006 Padma Bhushan recipient Sai Paranjpye is back to film direction after a gap of six years, the last being Bhago Bhoot in 2001, an educative film for children.

Sources say the veteran maker will launch her forthcoming film in June / July 2007. The final draft of the scripting is nearing completion and Deepti Naval will play the protagonist. The duo are coming together after 21-odd years, the last being a film they did in 1985.

While Paranjpye was unavailable for comment, Naval confirms the news. “It is a fun-filled thriller. It will have Sai’s usual flavours as seen in our earlier films like Chashme Baddoor (1981), Katha (1983) and Mirch Masala (1985). The film will be launched shortly and I am eagerly waiting to work in this film.”
