Salman Khan does the unthinkable; postpones first schedule of YRF movie

MUMBAI: Even before shooting for a day with Yash Raj Films, Salman Khan has done the unthinkable. The superstar has postponed the first schedule of his film with the studio – Ek Tha Tiger.

A source close to Khan tells Businessofcinema.com, “Ek Tha Tiger was supposed to start shooting on 5 July. Now it will only start later from 10 August, thanks to Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s film Bodyguard, which needs extra dates. Action films tend to get delayed. They almost always overrun their schedule. Bodyguard has Salman performing heavy duty action sequences. So there was bound to be a delay and since the film is locked on for an Eid release, Salman has to shoot now rather than later. So he had no choice but to delay Ek Tha Tiger by a month.”

This is an unprecedented happening at Yash Raj Films. Never in their illustrious history has any film been delayed by any actor.

Says a close filmmaker-friend of Khan, “We are used to Salman’s postponements. He’s a very busy actor and wants to keep everyone happy. His projects tend to overlap. For his daily shooting, he comes not before 1 pm. But once he is there he’s fully there. He will shoot till late in the night without a daily time limit. We’re used to his clock.”

When asked about the extra shooting dates for Bodyguard, producer Atul Agnihotri completely denied it. “No, no, it’s not true. Ek Tha Tiger is beginning as scheduled. We don’t intend to go all the way up to their dates,” says Agnihotri.

However, when asked if Ek Tha Tiger has been pushed forward because of the extra shooting for Bodyguard, Yash Raj Films’ official spokesperson says, “It’s been pushed by ten days.”
