Salman Khan gets bail in poaching case

MUMBAI: Actor Salman Khan was granted bail by the Jodhpur bench of Rajasthan High Court today (31 August) in the Chinkara (black buck) poaching case.

According to media reports, Khan’s lawyer Dipesh Mehta explained the conditions the court has imposed while granting bail for him. â€œThe court has granted him bail by suspending the sentence and directed him to give a personal bond of Rs 100,000 along with two sureties of the like amount to the satisfaction of the honourable Chief Judicial Magistrate at Jodhpur,” Mehta was quoted as saying.

Khan had filed a revision petition in the High Court against the sentence given to him by the sessions court. He will now have to appear before the court on 24 October for the petition hearing.

The actor spent almost a week in jail, following a five year sentence that was pronounced on him. His lawyers have now appealed to the High Court, which has given him bail while it considers the case.
