Samsung India launches Blu-Ray Player, BD-P1400

Mumbai: Samsung India Electronics has launched its next generation DVD Players in the Indian Market, including its first Blu-ray player BD-P1400. The flagship model of the new 2008  DVD range is the Samsung Pebble ( DVD F1080), which is  an ultra Compact High  Definition 1080p up conversion DVD Player.

The Samsung Pebble, which is only slightly larger than a DVD disc,  has a minimalist design and utilizes touch sensitive controls for a simple, user friendly experience. This slim, powerful DVD Player can up convert standard 480p discs to 720 p, 1080i or 1080p. It also features extensive multimedia file playback capability, including DivX, MP3, WMA, MPEG4 and more. It is priced at Rs.5,900.

"The introduction of newest line of DVD and Blu-ray players signals to consumers that the home viewing experience will come with a more striking look, a clearer sound, more stunning color and easier connectivity than ever before," states Samsung India deputy managing director R. Zutshi.

An ideal player for anyone who enjoys Blu-ray, DVDs or CDs in their home, this Samsung BD-P1400 takes home viewing to the next step and  accommodates all these formats in one unit. Designed with fans of multimedia technology in mind, the BD-P1400 easily connects to other digital peripherals through an HDMI 1.3 port for expanded colour delivery. A delight for audiophiles, its provides Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus audio playback, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD high Resolution and Master Audio,  5.1 Channel Output and more. It is priced at Rs. 29, 000.

The company plans to soon launch in the Indian market, Samsung BD-2, the industry’s first home theatre-in-a-box to integrate Blu-ray playback. This comprehensive 7.1 channel Home Theater System delivers 1100 watts of surround sound and full HD1080p Blu-ray play back.

In addition to the Pebble and BD-P1400, Samsung today also announced the launch of seven new DVD Players in the Indian market. Some of the new features that have been introduced in the 2008 DVD line up include : Best Playability, FM Tuner, Power Resume Function, USB 2.0 connection, CD ripping and 14 bit Video DAC for lifelike pictures.

On account of its advanced D2RS Technology, the Samsung DVD player can play any DVD regardless of its condition. This Defect Disc recovery solution technology enhances the DVD Player’s auto adjustment capability so that clear pictures can be displayed even when the disc is scratched , ensuring that the user does not have to worry about the disc’s readability ."We are targeting a 125% increase in our DVD volumes this year", states Zutshi.
