Sarawak – The new destination for Bollywood

Kulbhushan Gupta with Sarawak Tourism Board offcials Sarawak: Producer Kulbhushan Gupta, has signed a MOU with the Sarawak Tourism Board for over US$1 million to shoot a film called Let’s Rock at Sarawak near Indonesia. The movie goes on the floors in November and is slated to release in mid 2007.

The head of Mumbai-based Periscope Pictures feels that Borneo Island and Sarawak have settings suitable for filming Bollywood movies. “Sarawak or Miri City in particular is an exciting location and has a scenic and serene beauty. The people’s hospitality is also perfect for a movie setting that will give worldwide exposure to Sarawak,” he says. Gupta added that if more Bollywood films were to be  shot there Sarawak would easily be exposed to the 20 million plus global bollywood audience.

Let’s Rock will be shot entirely in Miri for 40 days while the remaining ten days will concentrate in the Sarawak capital of Kuching.

The cast and crew of the film will be announced soon. Gupta who was the public relations officer for films like Karz and Love ’86 among other films has earlier produced the Akshay Kumar starrer Police Force: The Inside Story (2004), the Govinda starrer Pardesi Babu (1998) and the Raaj Kumar / Jackie Shroff film God and Gun (1995).
