Shemaroo busts piracy racket worth Rs 10 million

MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment recently conducted a raid of pirated DVDs/ VCDs worth Rs 10.5 million (Rs 1.05 crores) of films that include Om Shanti Om, Saawariya, Bhool Bhulaiya, Bal Ganesh and many others in large quantities.


 


Under the supervision of Gnanchand Maroo – who heads the anti piracy team at Shemaroo Entertainment – the team of eight people at Shemaroo met D.C.P. Sanjay Sintre Saheb to discuss and take action on the gigantic piracy at Kalyan.


 


The DCP provided them with protection of eight officers namely PSI Anand Rao Patil, Missar and PI Arun Jadhav among others for this huge raid. Further Shemaroo anti-piracy team along with these officers marched towards Kalyan, Junjaru Market. Here they raided two shops, one godown and seized 70,000 DVDs/ VCDs worth Rs 10.5 million (as per market value), one of the biggest raid ever conducted by Shemaroo Entertainment.
