Staretegic marketing and buzz about Ã¢â‚¬Å“ApneÃ¢â‚¬Â premiere and press conference helps open the film higher than any other Bollywood film opening on the same day.
(Hackensack, NJ) Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Shemaroo Entertainment recently hosted two star studded premieres, press-conferences and gala dinner events of their film Ã¢â‚¬Å“APNEÃ¢â‚¬Â on Saturday, June 30th, 2007 in Vancouver and Surrey, Canada and on Sunday, July 1st, 2007 in Freemont and San Jose, USA. Both events were attended by the charismatic and charming Bollywood veteran, Dharmendra, along with his two actor sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Writer, Neeraj Pathak and director Anil Sharma were also present.
Crowds of fans, young and old were frantic with excitement and anticipation and cheered the Deols as they entered the cinema halls of Hollywood 3 Cinema and Raja Cinema in Canada. There, Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol spoke of their experience making the film and why it was so special to them and then answered questions posed to them by the fans. They hoped that audiences appreciated Ã¢â‚¬Å“ApneÃ¢â‚¬Â and promised to make many such satisfying and enjoyable films in the future. The fans all agreed unanimously that Ã¢â‚¬Å“ApneÃ¢â‚¬Â was one of the finest films made by the Deols to date.
During the press conference in San Jose, CA, Dharmendra was in his element, charming the audiences with poetry and eloquence. When two girls from a youth TV channel asked him about the message of the film, he told them, Ã¢â‚¬Å“Their entire lives, parents spend their time and energy taking care of their kids and raising them with love and affection. The message of this movie is that kids should also take care of their parents and fulfill their wishesÃ¢â‚¬Â.
All in all, the Ã¢â‚¬Å“APNEÃ¢â‚¬Â events were successful in reminding the audiences of why the film has met with such astounding success in North America. As of date, Apne ranks at # 25 in North AmericaÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s box-office as compared to # 64 for Awarapan and # 101 for Aap Ka Suroor (courtesy of Rentrak). Expectations are that with strong word of mouth the movie will only pick up pace at the box office worldwide.
