MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment releases 2 English films from Studio Canal’s catalogue on DVD. The two titles that have been released are; The Third Man and The Wicker Man.
The Third Man is directed by Carol Reed and stars Joseph Cotton, Valli, Orson Welles and Trevor Howard. The film is an Oscar winner and has also won the BAFTA Film Award for Best Film. The film is set in 1949 and is about an American writer of westerns, who arrives in post-war Vienna to visit his old friend. On arrival, he learns that his friend has been killed in a street accident, and when he meets the chief of the British Military Police in Vienna, he is informed that his friend was a black marketer wanted by the police. He decides to prove his dead friend’s innocence.
The Wicker Man has been directed by Robin Hardy and stars Edward Woodward, Britt Ekland, Diane Cilento, Ingrid Pitt and Christopher Lee. The film is set in a place called Summerisle a small, remote, twentieth-century island off the western coast of Scotland. A Sergeant of the Western Highland Police is investigating the alleged disappearance of a twelve-year-old boy and what starts as a routine enquiry becomes a terrifying nightmare for him.
Both the DVDs are priced at Rs.199 each.
