Shemaroo releases UTV World Movies on home video

MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment has joined hands with UTV World Movies to release the latter’s five world cinema titles on home video. The titles will be launched under the Shemaroo World Cinema label.

The five titles that were launched are: House of Flying Daggers, A Tale of Two Sisters, A Room with a View, La Zona and The Phantom Lover.

The DVDs were released by director Madhur Bhandarkar along with Shemaroo Entertainment joint managing director Atul Maroo, director Hiren Gada and UGBL executive director Shantonu Aditya.

Aditya said, "We are very proud to be associated with Shemaroo. UTV has a library of 600 titles of which include recent commercial hits as well as contemporary and award winning movies from across 50 countries. After launching world cinema channel across cable and DTH platforms in the country, we are now expanding our content delivery model to include home video. We are confident of our content and we are launching it with long term plans."

Gada said, "Within three months of releasing the first three Shemaroo World Cinema DVDs, today we are releasing the first five UTV World Movies titles on DVD. Our strong distribution network across the home video platform along with great content from UTV World Movies is bound to create strong product presence and availability for the World Cinema fan."

Bhandarkar expressed that he was really happy that world cinema is now going to be easily available in India as compared to earlier where he would spend most of his money while traveling abroad collecting such DVDs. He said, "Art has no boundaries and I am a big fan of World Cinema. We would get to see World Cinema only at festivals but now with this launch, it will be easily available and more importantly one does not need to spend a fortune to buy them because they are reasonably priced."

All the UTV World Movies titles will be in the respective original language, on Shemaroo World Cinema DVDs with English subtitles and the DVDs are priced at Rs 349.
