Shiamak to choreograph High School Musical

Mumbai: The winning team of Disney Channel’s My School Rocks (MSR) inter-school dance competition was awestruck to see their idol shake a leg and share the same frame with them in a special music video. The MSR winners – students of Delhi Public School from Chandigarh were flown into Mumbai to star in a music video for the song Ek Hain Hum from the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical 2, choreographed by Shiamak Davar.

The team has been rehearsing with Davar and the SDIPA troop for over three days. The music video showcases the journey of the winning team, their excitement and anxiety and features Davar who was also the judge for this all-India dance competition. The video will be aired on Disney Channel on 14 February, 2008.

Walt Disney Television International (India) senior vice president and managing director Antoine Villeneuve said, “It was overwhelming to witness High School Musical fans demonstrate their passion for dance and music through My School Rocks across the country. We will continue to engage tweens through many such initiatives in 2008.”

Choreographer and the judge for MSR, Davar said, “I witnessed some great talent while reviewing the MSR auditions. The Chandigarh team was particularly impressive with their choreography and use of props. I also admired their energy levels and they captured the spirit of the song brilliantly. I am having a great time choreographing them for the High School Musical-2 soundtrack.”

The winning team from DPS Chandigarh said, “We worked very hard on our choreography and tried our best to express the energetic and inspirational essence of the song. We are very honored and excited to work with Shiamak sir. Our school, family and friends are looking forward to see us in a music video. We thank Disney Channel for giving us an opportunity to make our alma mater proud!”
