Shiney Ahuja finally gets bail

MUMBAI: Actor Shiney Ahuja who was arrested on 14 June for raping his maid has been in custody since. The case was transferred from a sessions court to a fast-track court in Sewri last month.

The actor’s bail plea had been rejected twice by the lower court. He then moved the High Court

Ahuja has been granted bail on a surety of Rs.50,000 and on the condition that he must not leave the country. The actor will be required to live in New Delhi and the court ruled that Ahuja would be permitted to come to Mumbai only during the trial. He was  also asked to surrender his passport and refrain from offering any inducement to witnesses, directly or indirectly and warned against tampering with evidence.

If the charges against him are proved in the court, Ahuja faces a minimum seven-year jail sentence.

Ahuja has five films in hand, namely, Migration, Har Pal, Chalo Movie, Accident and Take Two.
