Sikh community shows displeasure over Dil Bole Hadippa

MUMBAI: Hindi films and controversies seem to go hand in hand! While the most recent film to face a controversy was Kaminey, now Yash Raj Films’ Dil Bole Hadippa is facing the flak.

The movie stars Shahid Kapur and Rani Mukerji. The Sikh community is not very pleased with the way Rani has been shown wearing the turban in the film.

The Sikhs are annoyed with Rani’s character in the film donning a patka instead of a pagdi, since an adult Sikh normally wears a pagdi and not a patka. They have also raised objection regarding the use of a patka sign in place of a dot on letter ‘I’ in ‘Hadippa’.

Over the last few months, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have also faced the heat from the Sikhs for their films Singh Is Kingg and Love Aaj Kal respectively, wherein they portray a Sikh character.

However, speaking to Businessofcinema.com a spokesperson from Yash Raj Films said, "Whatever controversy was there has been resolved between Mr. Yash Chopra and  Punjabi Cultural And Heritage Board president Mr. Charan Singh Sapra."

Dil Bole Haddipa has been directed by Anurag Singh.
