Software firm Interworld forays into films

Interworld Digital, a Mumbai-based software firm recently revealed its plans for film production and distribution. Mr Hot Mr Cool their first project is a romantic comedy starring Zulfi Syed and Yash Pandit directed by Partho Ghosh. The movie is under post-production and is due for release in June 2006. Interworld has plans to make around 15 movies a year with different directors. Other movies in the pipeline are Mere Apne and 101 Days.


The software firm has decided to take on distribution, analog and digital, overseas film distribution and audio and DVD releases as well. Software will still remains its prime business activity, and company officials are expecting the new venture to take off smoothly. The company will also create an international distribution network for movies and DVDs, either independently or in joint ventures with existing companies.


Interworld, incorporated in 1995 and listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange in 1996, also plans to develop an integrated digital cinema service platform, using the latest technology for delivering films via satellite directly to cinema halls.
