Sony bags telecast rights of Bollywood Awards


MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television Asia (Set Asia) has secured exclusive rights to air the Bollywood Awards to be held on 26 May 2007 at the Nassau Coliseum, New York.


The awards ceremony will also be aired on the channel internationally at a latter date. The Bollywood Awards will be telecast in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama, South East Asia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Caribbean, Trinidad, Guyana, Surinam, Jamaica, US Virgin Islands, St Thomas, St Martin, Aruba, UK, Europe, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Fiji, Mauritius, Maldives, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Australia and New Zealand.


The Bollywood Movie Awards will celebrate Indian cinema in all its glory and has an emphasis on movies that have had a strong impact on the international South Asian community. Past attendees have included Michael Jackson, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Richard Gere and Sharon Stone.


This year, the event will be hosted by Sony Entertainment Television Asia artiste Mona Singh. The celebrities slated to perform at this year’s event include Bipasha Basu, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, Urmila Matondkar, Soha Ali Khan, Neha Dhupia, Kangana Ranaut, among others.
