MUMBAI: The 22nd movie in the James Bond franchise Quantum Of Solace, which released on 7 November in India, has received Hollywood’s second biggest opening in India.

The movie has grossed Rs 170 million (Rs 17 crores) over the weekend in India, and is second to Spiderman 3, which grossed Rs 191.70 million (Rs 19.17 crores) in 2007.

In Bombay city alone, the film grossed Rs 19.2 million (Rs 1.92 crores) at the box office. Commenting on the movie’s box office performance Sony Pictures India managing director Kercy Daruwalla says, "We are overwhelmed with Quantum Of Solace’s box office performance The movie has opened very well. In fact its weekend business in India is Hollywood’s second biggest opening of all time."

Quantum of Solace released with 575 prints in India including digital. The movie will now release in the US on 14 November.
