MUMBAI: After acquiring the satellite rights of White Feather Films and Balaji Motion Pictures co-production, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Star has acquired the satellite rights of the recently released Vishesh Filmâ€™s production Awarapan.
Confirming the news to Businessofcinema.com, Star Gold head of acquisition Sameer Rao says, â€œAfter acquiring the satellite rights for Shootout at Lokhandwala, we have recently bought the satellite rights for Awarapan as well. We are planning to acquire more films in the future.â€
However Rao refused to comment on the cost of the acquisition. However industry sources say that the deal has been struck at Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crores).
The acquisition war between the movie channels is witnessing fierce competition and the outfall has been the sky rocketing prices, which is a welcome development for the producers and distributors of films.
