Sun TV Network ups ad rates

MUMBAI: Sun TV Network Ltd, which operates television channels across four languages of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, has increased its ad rates.


With sustained viewership and consistent higher ratings, the company decided to do the same with effect from 1 February. In its Tamil Channel the company upped the rates by 10 percent to 21 per cent; in its Telugu channel Gemini TV by 15 per cent, in Kannada Channel Udaya TV by 10 percent to 20 per cent and in the Malayalam Channel Surya TV by 3 percent to 13 per cent.


For two programmes of the company whose TRPs are extremely high, the hike in advertisement rates is over 30 per cent. For other channels like Sun Music, Sun News, Gemini Music, Gemini News, Teja, Udaya Movies, Udaya Varthagalu, Udaya II and Kiran the increase ranges from 10 per cent to 25 per cent.


Simultaneously, the slot fees (broadcast fees) received from content producers has also increased proportionately, effective 15 February.
