MUMBAI: Actor Sunny Deol has filed a legal suit against Reliance ADAG’s radio station BIG FM. The actor was miffed with a show on the station called Son Sunny and has sought damages to the tune of Rs 2 billion (Rs 200 crore).

"Mimicry is good and healthy but shouldn’t go beyond the belt," said Deol. At a press conference that was called for the same in Mumbai, Deol was present with his lawyer and Ashok Sarogi.

Deol added, "It is cheap comedy and in very bad taste. A film artist and particularly an artiste, who holds an image of lead hero/macho man, cannot be portrayed as a funny/comic figure before the people at large and that too, casually and or/regularly such that he becomes a laughing stock."

Sarogi said, "All kind of derogatory, defamatory remarks have been made against my client, his father and his brother in the show. It went ahead to utilize cheap comedy and comments with the voice, pattern and style of Sunny Deol and his father. And more over the station is using Sunny’s name, which makes people believe that Sunny Deol is actually participating in the show."

The lawyer even said that the radio station has been given a notice period of seven days to compensate damage of Rs 2 billion to the actor. In case, there is no response from the station, a suit will be filed against BIG FM in the Bombay High Court. "We won’t even hesitate to initiate criminal proceedings under sections 449 and 500 of defamation and punishment of defamation respectively," Sarogi added.
