Swati Shetty to handle Disney India’s local language film biz

MUMBAI: Disney-ABC International Television director (India) Swati Shetty will be moving on to the motion picture business of Walt Disney Studios in India.

According to sources close to the development, Shetty will soon be overseeing the theatrical, production and acquisition aspects of local language films for Walt Disney in India.

However, at the time of filing this story, no official confirmation was forthcoming from the company.

Sources inform Businessofcinema.com that in her new profile, Shetty will continue to report to Walt Disney Company India managing director Mahesh Samat and additionally report to a Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture production executive in the US.

Shetty joined Disney India in 2005 from Star India and was responsible for the ad sales of Disney channels. She then moved on to Disney-ABC International Television a year and a half back.

In her five years stint with Star, she handled sales for channels like Star World, Channel [V], Star Plus, and Star Utsav.
