Tom Alter speaks for Sherlock Holmes on Pogo

MUMBAI: Kids channel Pogo has roped in theatre and television artiste Tom Alter as the voice of Sherlock Holmes, for the channel’s new show, The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes.

Alter is supported by another film, theatre and television personality, Aanjjan Srivastav, as the voice of Dr John Watson, the faithful colleague of Holmes. Beginning 4 June 2007, The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, available both in English and Hindi, will be aired on Mondays at 8 pm.

Says Alter, “It is always so much fun to be associated with projects involving kids. Today, the younger lot is much smarter and discerning in their programming choices. I am happy to be dubbing for a legendary character like Sherlock Holmes and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Pogo. The performance of Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes has been phenomenal and to be able to match up to and voice his expression has been a tremendous challenge and I have loved it. Hope kids and their families like my work as Sherlock Holmes.”

Srivastava adds, “I thoroughly enjoyed being the voice of Dr. Watson. He is a composed person with a subtle yet great sense of humour. It has been a pleasure to work for this hugely popular series and I hope kids enjoy watching Dr. Watson.”
