T.P. Aggarwal elected IMPPA president

MUMBAI: The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPAA) elected T.P. Aggarwal as its new president on 27 September.

Other members that were elected were Sushama Shiromanee as IMPAA senior vice president, Vinay Kumar Sinha as vice president and Anand Girdhar as the treasurer.

Mumbai commissioner of Police A N Roy was the chief guest for the function wherein he awarded Life Time Achievements Awards to Aroona Irani, late Mehmood (collected by brother Anwar) and late Gulshan Kumar (collected by Krishan Kumar). The Young Achievers Award was given to producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

A total of 16 candidates contested in the Ordinary Members category (Regular Producers) and five candidates in Associate Class in each of the groups Active Group headed by Shabnam Kapoor and Today’s Group headed by T.P. Aggarwal. Komal Gulati was the independent candidate who bagged seven votes.

The elections were presided over by Guddu Dhanoa, Kumar Aditya and secretary and returning officer Anil Nagrath.

Today’s Group outwitted Active Group with 11 members winning against Active Groups 10 members.

Ordinary members: Kuku Kohli (118 votes), Ashok Pandit (103 votes), Guddu Dhanoa (103 votes), Shabnam Kapoor (102 votes), Naresh Mohnot (101 votes), Vicky Ranawat (99 votes), Manoj Chaturvedi (96 votes), N.R. Pachisia (94 votes) and Mrs. Farrah Sultan Ahmed (94 votes).

Associate Class: S. Kumar Mohan (63 votes).

Todays Group: (7 ordinary and 4 associate)

Ordinary: K.C. Bokadia (148 votes), T.P. Aggarwal (138 votes), Vinay Kumar Sinha (114 votes), J. Neelam (105 votes), Nitin Mawani (104 votes), Rakesh Kumar Sharma (94 votes) and Anand Girdhar (93 votes).

Associate: Sushama Shiromanee (75 votes), Johny Bakshi (65 votes), Surjit Ahluwalia (61 votes) and Pawan Kumar (52 votes).
