Turner’s Vivek Krishnani joins Fox-Star India’s movie JV

MUMBAI: Turner Entertainment Networks executive director – marketing and interactive (Asia Pacific) Vivek Krishnani has joined 20th Century Fox and Star India’s motion picture joint venutre as the head of distribution, marketing and syndication.

The JV, which will operate under the Fox Star Studios name, is slated to launch soon.

When contacted by Businessofcinema.com, an official Star spokesperson confirmed the development saying, "Yes, Vivek has joined Star and he will be moved to the company’s film division as and when it’s formed."

Fox Star Studios will be headed by Star India president, strategy and corporate development Vijay Singh. Krishnani will be reporting in to Singh.

Krishnani, who was based in Hong Kong since April 2006, has now re-located to India and will operate out of Mumbai. At the time of filing this report, Krishnani was unavailable for comment.

Prior to being promoted as executive director – marketing and interactive (Asia Pacific) at Turner, Krishnani was Turner International director marketing (India and Pakistan). He joined Turner in April 2004 from Radio City where he was head of marketing. At Radio City, he was a part of the team that set up the radio station in four cities. Prior to Radio City, Krishnani was part of the strategic planning and marketing team at Star Plus and was involved in the launch of Kaun Banega Crorepati.

In May this year, News Corp announced that Fox Filmed Entertainment will be launching Fox International Productions (FIP) to produce and acquire local language films for key global territories including India, Russia, Japan and Germany.
