UTV Motion Pictures inks on-demand deal

MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures Plc has inked an agreement with US based TitleMatch Entertainment Group for distribution of its film library in retailers and e-tailers in North America.

TitleMatch Entertainment Group is a subsidiary of Protocall Technologies Incorporated and developer of the world’s first CSS enabled DVD on-demand service.

The agreement calls for films from the UTV Motion Pictures library such as National Award winner and BAFTA nominated Rang De Basanti, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Taxi 9211, Life in a… Metro, and Parineeta to be available on the TitleMatch DVD On-Demand.

“We think TitleMatch is at the forefront of a very exciting new distribution model that can substantially increase availability of our movies in the US retail market. Major retailers can use the TitleMatch service to tailor product selection by region or even by individual store location, which is ideal for us,” said UTV Motion Pictures COO Siddharth Roy Kapur.

“UTV is a major force in the multi-billion dollar market for Hindi and region specific movies from India. We believe there is a tremendous revenue opportunity with UTV in many geographic markets throughout the United States where demand is particularly strong for movies from India. We are thrilled to be working with UTV and to make their movies available through the TitleMatch DVD on-demand service,” said TitleMatch Entertainment Group president Syd Dufton.

The TitleMatch DVD On-demand service lets movie studios and retailers burn video content directly in stores and at website distribution centers at the time orders are placed. At retail stores, consumers can browse and select available products from multi-media touch-screen display terminals located on the sales floor.

Orders are produced behind the counter on the TitleMatch Factory by store personnel in minutes. For online orders, consumers browse and select available titles from an etailer’s website with orders produced at product distribution centers or store locations by using the system’s TitleMatch Factory. In recent months TitleMatch has amassed one of the largest selections of movies from India for burn on-demand production at retail stores.
