UTV Motion Pictures’ Ram Mirchandani, Alpana Mishra quit

MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures has seen the departure of two of its senior executives.

UTV Motion Pictures COO production Alpana Mishra and UTV Rampage Motion Pictures COO Ram Mirchandani have called it a day at the company.

When contacted, UTV Motion Pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur declined to comment.

However, sources close to the development confirmed to Businessofcinema.com that while Mirchandani will be turning independent producer, Mishra will be taking a sabbatical post the release of Kaminey starring Shahid Kapur and Priyanka Chopra.

According to information available, post these two departures, UTV Motion Pictures will undergo minor restructuring and will have two separate functions – production and creative – headed by individuals. While the creative responsibilities will be headed by UTV SpotBoy COO Vikas Bhal, the hunt is on for someone to head the production portfolio. Bhal will report to Kapur.

In a restructuring exercise early last year, Mishra was elevated from senior vice president motion pictures production to COO; whereas Mirchandani was made in charge of a new division under UTV Motion Pictures.
