MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures’ maiden Telegu venture Athidhi will release in the Delhi region on 30 November. The film stars Mahesh Babu and Amrita Rao.
Athidhi released in Andhra Pradesh on 18 October. In North India it will release at select eight – 10 cinema screens.
In its initial week the film had a box office collection of Rs 210 million (Rs 21 crores) with 270 prints in 500 screens worldwide. The film garnered a bigger opening than Pokhiri, which was Mahesh Babu’s last release.
UTV Motion Pictures’ regional head (North) Girish Johar says, “Athidhi’s success in South India has generated great demand for the film amongst the Telegu speaking people of Delhi region. Since Athidhi is our first Telegu release, we had planned to concentrate entirely on its South India release initially, and then look at other areas.”
The film is presented in association with Krishna Productions.
