MUMBAI: Venus has acquired the overseas distribution rights of Priyadarshan’s upcoming movie – Bhagam Bhag from Asthavinayak.
According to industry sources Asthavinayak was quoting a price of Rs 65 – 70 million (Rs 6.5 – Rs 7 crores) for the movie. Going by that, Venus would have had to shell out a very fancy price to have acquired the rights. However, the price at which Venus acquired the rights could not be ascertained.
What’s more, Bhagam Bhag is being made with a total budget of Rs 350 – 400 million (Rs 35 – 40 crores), thus making it one of Priyadarshan’s highest budget movies. According to information available to Businessofcinema.com, usually Priyadarshan’s films are made at a medium budget of Rs 100 – 150 million (Rs 10 – 15 crores).
The film stars Akshay Kumar and Govinda and is due to release on 22 December.
