MUMBAI: Venus Films’ Akshay Kumar starrer De Dhana Dan completed its first schedule in Mumbai’s Film City before Christmas last year. The movie is being readied for an Eid release this year.
After taking a short break, the unit will resume shooting mid January for a short schedule of 10 days. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film has Katrina Kaif opposite Kumar. The movie also stars 28 more actors like Neha Dhupia, Sameera Reddy and Paresh Rawal to name a few.
Producer Ratan Jain said, “Since Akshay has Kambhaqt Ishq releasing in May, I want my film to come after a gap of three to four months. Hence we choose an Eid release after discussing it with Akshay.”
Akshay adds, “I like to be involved with my producers from the start to finish. Unlike most, I discuss the strategy for marketing and distribution also as these aspects have gained in momentum in recent times.”
Cashing in on a big holiday has been the game plan for most big banners. And Akshay Kumar has already staked his claim over the Eid weekend.
The film will finish its last schedule in Singapore between mid April to mid May, before it can start on the post production.
Incidentally, De Dhana Dan will be Kumar’s third release of 2009 after Chandni Chowk To China and Kambhaqt Ishq.
