West Is West to release in India on 10 June across 200 screens

MUMBAI: West is West, which is the sequel to the East is East, is set to release in India on 10 June 10 across across 200 screens.

The cast of the film will host a special film screening on 8 June in Chandigarh for the villagers of Jayanti Majri, Majri, Khera, and Sielba Majri where 90 per cent of the film was shot. 52 Weeks Entertainment Inc will release the film across along with UV News and Media Ltd.

Producer Leslee Udwin said, "This is a special film for India, speaking as it does to the people of subcontinent in a powerful and direct way about their lives, roots and cultural values. The film also belongs in a special way to the people of the Punjab, since that is where we shot the film and those are the people who took us into their homes and hearts and to whom I am indebted for their generosity and hospitality.”

The movie is written by Ayub Khan-Din and stars Om Puri, Linda Bassett, Ila Arun, Jimi Mistry, Vijay Raaz and introduces newcomer Aqib Khan. The English cross-over film West is West is currently in its 16th week of release in the UK and has collected $4.5 million at the box office.
