Whistling Woods student film competition to be held at Pune Film Fest

Mumbai: Whistling Woods International (WWI) has tied up with the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) for the second consecutive year to promote institutional film education and has constituted a special competitive section in PIFF called the "Whistling Woods International Student Film Competition" for students of film institutes across the world. This competition has provided a platform for film students to evaluate themselves along-side their global peers.

The festival will run from 8 – 15 January, 2009. An eminent jury comprising of national and international film makers will judge the films. PIFF has enriched with the active presence of eminent film personalities who come down from various parts of the world to judge the films in competition.

The competition is divided into two sections – Live Action and Animation. The top 20 (10 Live Action and 10 Animation) films selected from over a 150 films sent by students from various film schools across the world will be screened on  9 & 10 January, 2009 at E-Square 132A, University Road, Ganeshkhind, Pune.

The International Jury that will judge Marathi feature films will also judge Whistling Woods International Student Film Competition [Fiction Section]. For the animation section Shelley Page, Head of International Outreach, DreamWorks and a part of the International advisory board at Whistling Woods International along with other professional from the industry will be present.

The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on January 15, 2009. The winners will receive prizes as follows:

Best Film: US$ 2000   (Divided equally between the Director & the Producer)

Best Director: US $ 1000

Best Screenplay: US $ 1000

Best Animation Film: US $ 1000
