Yash Raj Films releases music of Dhoom:2

MUMBAI: The music of Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom 2 has hit music stores on 20 October. For the first time ever in India along with audio CD there is simultaneous release of music in the MP3 format too.

In the year 2004, Dhoom was the third biggest album and Yash Raj Film’s Veer-Zaara was at top and hence the excitement and expectations for Dhoom 2 is immense.

While Pritam has composed the music, Salim and Sulaiman have rendered the background music. The lyrics have been penned by Sameer. The music is releasing on the Yash Raj music label. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Sanjay Gadhvi.

The album comprises five songs and a remix. What seems rather astonishing is that 12 singers have been roped in to sing five songs. Starting with Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Alisha Chinai, KK, Sukhbir, Soham Chakrabarty, Jolly Mukherjee, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Suzanne and Dominique, the brigade continues with music director Vishal Dadlani (Vishal Shekhar duo) and Bipasha Basu who have also sung songs for the film.

“Vishal has sung the English Version of Dhoom in this album and Bipasha has sung the song ‘My Name is Ali’ along with Sonu Nigam,” informs Pritam.

The cassette will have six additional songs from YRF earlier hits. Also the Dhoom:2 CD comes with another complimentary CD with 10 remixed and original tracks of recent times, which include ‘Kajra Re’, ‘Chand Sifarish’, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Tere Liye’, amongst others. The CD pack also contains five collector cards autographed by the stars of Dhoom:2 – Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Uday Chopra and Bipasha Basu.

In the MP3 format, 45 songs of recent Yash Raj films like Fanaa, Salaam Namaste, Bunty aur Babli, Neal n’ Nikki and Veer-Zaara will be packed with Dhoom:2.

Talking about the background music of the film Sulaiman Merchant informs, “We have retained the old Dhoom but have modified it a little to suit the look and pace of this film. We have also created special sound themes for all the actors of the film.”

He further adds, “Dhoom:2’s background music does have the influence of Dhoom but the instrumentation is different and more powerful.”

While Salim Suliaman had arranged the music for all songs in Dhoom, they have arranged the music for two songs in Dhoom:2.
