Yorkshire readies for IIFA awards


MUMBAI: Yorkshire, UK, is all set to host the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards for the first time ever, on 9 June 2007.


Performing live at the IIFA Awards at The Hallam fm, Arena, Sheffield will be the likes of Abhishek Bachchan, Salman Khan, Govinda, Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu and Emraan Hashmi.


Shilpa Shetty who will be performing live for the UK audience for the first time after her Celebrity Big Brother success, says, “I am planning to perform to all the top songs of the year. I want to show the whole of England what Hindi cinema’s song and dance is all about.”


The awards presentation ceremony will be beamed to a global audience of almost a billion with Broadcast partners Star TV. The IIFA celebrates Indian Cinema across the globe and this year, Yorkshire is IIFA’s destination of choice.
