Mumbai: Zapak announced a tie-up with the movie Drona under which Zapak will have the distribution rights of the movie merchandise. Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Goldie Behl were present at the occasion and unveiled the Zapak Drona Game Packs.
Zapak has created 6 merchandise items for Drona. There are 2 sword packs – Drona Sword and Ritz sword, these are both actual replicas from the movie of the swords used by Bachchan and KK Menon. Then there are 3 Drona Pack Series – Zapak Drona Magic Busters, Zapak Drona Mind Masters and Zapak Drona Mystery Shockers. These packs include a combination of games / toys based on the theme of the pack. And then there is the ‘Bully Zapper Pack’. These packs are priced at Rs149, Rs 199 and Rs 349.
All these toys would be available Pan – India and be distributed through the physical distribution network build by Zapak. Zapak has a physical distribution network in more than 77 cities across India. The merchandise will be sold through 3000+ gift / toys / high-end stationery stores.
Thrilled about the Drona merchandise, Bachchan said, "As a kid I was always fascinated by Light Saber the sword used in Star Wars and dreamed of having something like that for myself one day. I see that coming true today thanks to Zapak. The Drona sword along with the Game packs will extend the life of Drona beyond just the movie. I hope everyone one enjoys the Zapak Drona merchandise as much as I did."
On this association Zapak Digital Entertainment Limited chief operating officer Rohit Sharma said, "As per the latest I cube 2007 data, kids in India spend 21% of their time on the internet for entertainment which is up from 18% in 2006. Activities such as online gaming, video etc. has increased share of entertainment from 8% in 2006 to 13% in 2007. Kids aged 14 years and below constitute to over 25% of Zapak users online also serving as the stickiest and the most loyal users on our site, this is definitely an area of focus for Zapak. Drona presented us with an interesting opportunity to create merchandise around the movie that would appeal to this audience."
