MUMBAI: India doesn’t seem to have action-oriented women role-playing like Lara Croft or Kill Bill. Zapak’s calendar girls are here to plug this need gap.
The calendar encapsulates 12 gorgeous women in never seen before gaming avatar. So you have a Malaika Arora Khan in the avatar of a Neon Angel, Jesse Randhawa dons the Ice Queen Avatar, Mridula Chandrashekhar is the Temple Warrior and a lot more.
The feel and concept of the calendar has been shot by Ace Photographer Munna. Zapak Digital Entertainment COO Rohit Sharma said, “In less than a year, Zapak has attained a whooping 4 million registered users and has created the largest success story in the internet space in 2007.”
He added, “For the first time we thought of giving women an action avatar and bringing fashion and gaming to a common platform. To celebrate our first year’s success we are introducing this calendar. The avatar collection showcased in the calendar will be used in the games for Zapak.”
The 12 looks were unveiled by Zapak at the Zapak Annual Bash held last year with the women gaming down the ramp in their new avatars.
Designer Vikram Phadnis added, “When Zapak approached me with an opportunity to fashion a Gaming Avatar Collection, which was the first of its kind for any designer in the world, I did not think twice. It was my chance to do something new and unconventional and put my fantasies into life. The calendar is the hottest interpretation of these Avatars.”
Malaika Arora Khan said, “It’s a different calendar with a different feel. I’m glad to be a part of it especially since I launched Zapak Girls some time back. It’s surely one of the hippest calendars I have seen in the longest time.”
