Zee Marathi forays into motion picture biz

MUMBAI: Zee Marathi, a regional channel from the Zee Telefilms bouquet, has announced its foray into motion pictures.

Zee Marathi will churn out Marathi films by providing financial strength to producers of meaningful cinema, says a company release. The network has already selected five production houses, including Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Ashvami Films’, Gautam Joglekar’s ‘SOC’, Shrirang Godbole’s ‘Indian Magic Eye’, Smita Talwalkar’s ‘Asmita Chitra’ and Rakesh Sarang’s ‘Cams Club’.

“After the making of the film, the responsibility of its marketing, distribution, telecast for Indian and overseas territories will be the responsibility of the Zee group,” maintains Zee Network chairman Subhash Chandra.

In the next two years, all five producers will present three films each, making Zee Marathi richer by 15 Marathi films within two years.
