NEW DELHI: The Capital city was witness to Hollywood actress Freida Pinto’s efforts to raise awareness for the girl child.
The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actress Freida Pinto was in town to support CNN-IBN’s function for global action to create awareness about education and empowerment of the girl child. Freida is also the global ambassador for the ‘Because I Am A Girl’ campaign.
Pinto has lent her voice for a documentary film ‘Girl Rising’, which tells nine different stories of girls who have been abused, tortured and made slaves.
Pinto spoke about her association with the film: “I am happy to bring this film to India. The timing couldn’t be more perfect because there has been wide awareness in the last couple of months. There are people who are raising more questions, who are protesting, debating also probably putting more pressure on policy change.”
