MUMBAI: It seems to be raining biopics in Bollywood this season (SEE STORY HERE). The latest star joining the ever-increasing queue to play a real-life character on-screen seems to be none other than Akshay Kumar!
If buzz is to be believed, Akshay Kumar is gearing up to play Indian wrestler Dara Singh on celluloid, but the actor has requested time to get into the physique of the late Singh.
Sources say Akshay is keen to reprise the role in a Bollywood film, while another Punjabi film on the wrestler is already in the pipeline.
Dara Singh’s son Vindoo confirmed the news: “Yes, Rohit Jugraj has approached me to make a film on my father’s life. Akshay is the one chosen to play my father in this project. However, he would need time to bulk up. Also, all these things (cricket betting scam) happened and I didn’t want to embarrass Akshay by connecting with him at that time.”
Vindoo also spoke about the Punjabi version of the biopic. “Yes, I’ve been approached by the producers of ‘Jatt & Juliet’ with a Punjabi film where they want Sangram Singh to play my dad. Let’s see which one materialises first.”
