Amitabh Bachchan: Fructifying Relations Between India And Australia
MUMBAI: Looks like Bollywood’s Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has a very deep-rooted Australian connection.
Big B was recently spotted at the premiere of the film ‘Fearless Nadia’ at Oz Fest. The OzAsia Festival is South Australia’s unique production to present to Indian and Australian audiences in Mumbai. ‘Fearless Nadia’ is a show created by Australian composer and percussionist Ben Walsh, to pay tribute to a film actress and stunt woman who rose to fame in Indian cinema during the 1930s.
The emperor of Bollywood looked regal in a black pinstriped suit, and he completed his look with those trademark reading glasses.
Amitabh Bachchan was seen on the red carpet with Steve Walters, the Consul General of Australia. Also present at the event were Nandita Das with husband Subodh Maskara, Kiran Shantaram (son of legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram), Adi Godrej (Chairman of Godrej group), and Bollywood actors Dalip Tahil, Jugal Hansraj and Pallavi Sharda. We also spotted choreographer Saroj Khan at the event.
Another link in Amitabh Bachchan’s Australia connect is: the man was recently honoured by the Australian government for his contribution towards Indian cinema and fructifying the relations between the two countries.
The stalwart of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog, “Another recognition by the Australian Government and its Commission here in Mumbai, in celebration for the 100 years of Indian Cinema, and my contribution towards fructifying the relations between the two countries…I am most humbled…”
This is not the first time he has been honoured by the Government of Australia. Last year too, Amitabh was conferred an honorary doctorate from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. He was also awarded France’s highest civilian honour, the Knight of the Legion of Honour, for his exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond.
